HOUSTON, Nov. 23, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Twila M. Day has been appointed senior vice president and chief information officer. Ms. Day, who currently serves as vice president and chief information officer, will assume her new position effective January 1, 2010.

Ms. Day began her Sysco career in 1992 as a senior programmer analyst in the company's information technology department, progressing through a wide range of management positions before being promoted to assistant vice president, technology and applications in 2000. She became vice president, information technology in July 2005, and assumed her current role later that year.
Ms. Day was born in Champaign, Illinois and raised in Florida. She is a 1989 graduate of Our Lady of the Lake College (San Antonio, TX) where she earned a bachelor's degree in business management. She and her husband Bill live in Richmond, Texas and have two sons and three daughters.
